It’s increasingly the case that at several points in our life we seek a change of career. Sometimes we have to; sometimes we just want to. Quite often we know why we’re changing careers and what we want out of it but flounder when it comes to how we do it. Career Ignition Club was created to provide useful, practical advice and information in multimedia formats to deal with the “how.”

So when we look at what needs to be done to change careers these are usually the 5 key steps.

Why is this important? When we change careers we end up trying to sell ourselves to employers just like any product or service that might be on sale to us as consumers. It’s al

Woody Allen once quipped that the best thing about being bisexual is that it instantly doubles your chances of a date on a Saturday night. Unfortunately, the reality is far from a utopian vision of free love and sexual liberation. In the workplace, life for many bisexuals is one of isolation and a daily struggle to be understood.

We spoke to bisexuals Emma, Richard and Milena to bust some of the most popular myths.

Does that phrase make you cringe, or is it exciting?

There is a lot of talk and hype about personal branding. Some people treat it like its the missing key to professional success.

Let me share one concept that Ive learned the hard way over the years:

If you want people to know and understand you, and talk about you to others, you need to FEED THEM with information.

As a business owner (which is very similar to being a job seeker), I can go weeks and months without anything new and during those weeks and months no one is spreading the word about my news.

Because I didnt have news.

But when I create news (thats an important phrase), people talk about that news.

Recently I announced a huge change in pricing on JibberJobber, where we are moving most of the premium features to the free side.

As difficult as it has become to locate top performers, keeping them on board is proving to be an even greater worry for employers, a recent Robert Half survey shows. Nearly four in ten chief financial officers interviewed said retaining valuable employees is their biggest staffing concern for the next twelve months. Twenty-seven percent of respondents said their top focus will be maintaining employee productivity.

CFOs were asked, “Which one of the following is your greatest staffing concern in the next twelve months?” Their responses: “Though general unemployment levels remain high, professionals with specialized skills have more opportunities available to them, which has led to talent shortages in some areas and made replacing valuable employees even more difficult,” said Paul McDonald, Robert Half senior executive director. Read full article…
