St. Regis USA to create dozens of jobs in Indiana
St. Regis USA Inc., maker of hand-etched and hand-painted glass and crystal products, said today it plans on expanding its Indianapolis-based operations over the next three years to create 41 new jobs.
The company, a division of Ontario-based St. Regis International Inc., is investing $4.18 million to purchase, prep, and staff a facility in the northeast part of the city.
The facility will be used to make glasses for beverages, glass and crystal awards, and desk accessories, among other items.
St. Regis USA already has 200 employees based in the US and plans on a heftier expansion involving more square feet and more employees. Expansion in the Indianapolis area was ideal, the company said, for a number of reasons.
Logistically, Indianapolis provides us with an ideal shipping location to handle not only the lucrative Northeast market, but also reasonable shipping times and costs to the Southwest and West Coast. said Richard Firkser, president and CEO of St. Regis International, in a prepared statement.
According to IBJ.com, the Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered St. Regis Crystal up to $200,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $35,000 in training grants based on the companys job-creation plans. The city of Indianapolis granted additional property-tax abatement.
