Hipster offers a year’s supply of beer, $10K to fill job openings

San Francisco-based startup Hipster is pulling out all the stops to fill a handful of engineering openings that job boards failed to find candidates for.

If someone succeeds in filling an open engineering position at Hipster (or if the person applying gets the job), the company said yesterday it will ply them with $10,000 in cash and a years supply of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.

Co-founder Doug Ludlow said he came up with the idea after multiple postings on job boards didnt turn up any viable applicants.

He told CNN that after posting the offer, applicants began pouring in, some even from Google and Facebook.

Ludlow is looking for engineers who can build Web software and mobile apps, a rare skill set he likened to that of a surgeons.

Hipster is willing to pay accordingly for talent, with salaries starting at $90,000 to $150,000 a year plus benefits and stock options.

No clue who Hipster is? Youre not alone. CNN reports that Hipster is a stealth mode startup meaning theyre not saying much yet about what theyre doing that is working on a way to help users find hidden information and content about local real-world locations. Several big venture capitalists are funding the company, including Google Ventures, Lightbank and 500 Startups.
